How to slow down

In this season of life, it can be hard to slow down and become a bit more still.

Slow living, simple living, calm, how to

It can be hard to slow down sometimes. Especially in certain seasons of life when things are continuously packed onto your plate.

I personally can get caught up so easily in the busy season before making any changes. I just get so caught up in getting everything done, and focusing on not drowning.

Something I have grown to acknowledge is that when I start to feel like I need to slow down my body tells me first. I start to feel a bit more anxious, I feel like I need to sleep forever, it becomes harder to wake up each morning, and I have this lingering tense feeling in my body.

No one is ever perfect at keeping their schedules balanced! So I thought sharing some tips on how to slow down when things are busy might be helpful!

3 Tips to Try When you are Feeling a Bit too Busy

  1. Schedule in times when you can take a break; even if it is small
  2. Delegate what you can
  3. Review your expectations

Scheduling in breaks

BREAKS!! They are so important! Life can get so carried away. Day in and day out so many things need to get completed just to stay on track!

My suggestion is to take time before each week to schedule out what you can. Plan each day so that you have no surprises! When you are planning though make sure to make time for a few breaks whatever that might look like!

I personally like to ask myself what I need! Sometimes thats a walk, yoga, trail run or to meet up with a friend! Whatever it is I try and make it work to the best of my ability!

Delegate what you can

This is a simple task but sometimes needs a quick reminder!

If you are anything like me then you totally forget that the other people you work with or live with are able to take on a few tasks as well! So sometime I just need a reminder that I can pass something off to someone else!

So here is your reminder! Is there anyone else that can take part of or a whole of your task? Maybe your older kids can tackle the laundry this week? Or your co-worker can finish typing up the notes from your meeting? This way you can gain a bit of extra breathing room!

Review your expectations

This is a good one!

I know for myself I get my expectations in the way of things getting done. This isn’t to say that you need to lower your expectations of the outcomes of what needs to get done, but maybe that you need to shift them on what it looks like on how the job gets done.

Shifting your expectations can make it a bit less stressful for you! It releases you from the expectation that you need to do it a certain way when in reality you might have someone in your life that can do it totally different than you.

Thank you so much for popping by! It truly means the world to me!!

I would love to hear in the comments what you chose to implement in your life to try and slow it down!
